Select Colors with Meaning

So you're not wearing your mother's wedding dress. The lime green that seemed oh-so-right in 1969, is a little too wild for you. But consider incorporating the color into your own color palette.

Color is an elegant and subtle way to create a link between your unique ceremony and your unique families and histories.

Consider using the same color scheme as your parents or grandparents did - even the most dated color combination can be given a refreshing twist. For example, one bride I talked with recently laughed out loud at the idea of incorporating her mother's avocado and brown color palette. But when I showed her a contemporary twist on those colors - a lush chocolate brown and a subtle sage green, taken with the mercury glass vases and bowls she loved so much, the combination was stunning!

Or consider using the colors of your birthstones. You were born in august and your fiance was born in July - you'd be surprised at just how good a matte raspberry (July's ruby) and a subtle lime (August's peridot) can look together. It's a subtle and elegant way to make your wedding uniquely your own.
