Writing It Down

The most important step. Even if your vendor has been working in your town for 40 years. Knows your site inside and out. Write down your expectations. The Saturday you spend creating detailed instruction kits for all your vendors will pay off tremendously on your wedding day.

Items to include in your instructions:

  • Contact information for you, your parents, fiance, consultant etc. both in advance and on the day of the wedding.
  • Directions to your ceremony and reception sites
  • An inventory of all the items the vendor has agreed to supply. Include pictures to refresh his/her memory.
  • A schedule of the wedding day, including delivery times, setup times, and contact information for the person receiving items.
  • A map of your site with items of interest highlighted. (Identify the nearest water source and/or refrigeration for your florist, caterer, etc)
  • A "play list" or "must-take photo list" for bands and photographers.
