Wedding Cake Dos and Donts
The wedding cake is a lovely delectable feature of most wedding receptions. Pick what you like and you can’t go wrong, right? Well, not exactly. So, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best tips and biggest mistakes a bride can make.
Do bring photos, swatches and samples to your meeting.
What’s periwinkle to you may be purple to your baker. Color swatches, fabric samples and photographs are what you’ll need to accurately describe your vision to your chosen baker.
Don’t transport the cake yourself.
The $30-75 delivery fee is worth it. You want a professional to transport and set up your wedding cake. Leave worries about hot cars, stopping for gas, sudden stops, and sharp turns to the professionals.
Don’t leave your baker in the dark.
As your plans crystallize, keep your baker in the know. Make sure he or she is informed about any flower changes, your final RSVP numbers, any schedule changes, and other pertinent details. In addition, he or she will need the date, time and location for delivery, the name and number of the venue manager, the name and number of the caterer (or whomever will be cutting and plating the cake), and the name and number of the florist if there will be fresh flowers on the cake.
