A Vintage Hollywood Wedding: Jeff & Sarah Stokes
Jeff and I tied the knot at the River Run Country Club in
Davidson, North Carolina. It was a blustery
but warm day for March, which made for great
photos with the wind blowing! My dress was
an ivory halter style from "Classic
Bride" (Davidson,
NC). I felt that this dress evoked a bit
of an "old Hollywood
glamour" feel. The colors I chose for our wedding were
periwinkle blue and raspberry, with my bridesmaids
wearing periwinkle strapless dresses, as
bursts of raspberry popped in their bouquets.
Speaking of the flowers - "Party
Blooms" (Charlotte,
NC) supplied the flora and fauna for our
big day. They smelled divine! Blue Hydrangeas
were included, as that's my favorite flower,
and it happened to be the perfect color of
periwinkle to match the dresses, as well.
Hot Pink Roses (a nice raspberry in color)
added the special pop in the bouquet and
overall look, also. Our centerpieces were
not traditional, but as you can see in one
of the attached photos, they were a whimsical nod to classic
film! I worked with "Extravaganza
Events & Props" (Charlotte,
NC) to design the pieces, and they were a
great theme-builder and conversation starter. "Extravaganza" also
supplied palm trees with little white lights
to make our guests feel like they were somewhere
on Sunset Blvd. during the reception. Jeff
and I designed a "movie
poster" for our
wedding to go in a real marquee sign, as
you can see in one of the attached photos!
I employed the baking talents of "Cake
Designs" (Cornelius, NC) for our wedding cake, which was
a yummy white chocolate-raspberry creation,
and included a vintage Lladro cake-topper
from 1960 that I found myself!
I created
our favors, ordering custom shot glasses
with our names and wedding date on them,
and filling them with Hershey Kisses wrapped
in periwinkle-lined tulle. Our DJ from "Custom
Music Entertainment" (Charlotte, NC) kept everyone's toes
tappin' all night with our favorite standards
by Frank, Dean, and Ella, as well as music
from well-known movies. Overall, our wedding
was just a fun experience. We had numerous
guests tell us sincerely that it was one
of the nicest weddings they'd ever been to! |
